The occurrence of overlooking the birthdays of friends and family is a frequently encountered issue that can evoke emotions of remorse, awkwardness, and letdown. Amidst the hustle and bustle of our daily routines, it is effortless to lose sight of important dates, sometimes only realizing the significance of a birthday after it has already passed.
This tendency to forget birthdays can set off a cycle of avoidance, whereby the individual who forgot the occasion refrains from initiating contact with the person whose birthday slipped their mind, out of apprehension of causing further distress.
Busy routines lead to missing birthday's, realizing their importance only after they have gone.
I conducted User Research through both survey and interview questions performed on a total of 25 users. Our research shows that forgetting a loved one's birthday can have a negative impact on relationships.
Remindful is a user-friendly birthday reminder app that simplifies the task of remembering and celebrating important dates for loved ones by scheduling personalized birthday messages to be sent automatically.
Throughout the project, I remained focused on understanding user needs, aligning the efforts of a team of 3, and delivering a high-quality product that addresses the problem of forgetting birthdays and strengthens relationships. My key responsibilities included but were not limited to:
Project Planning and Strategy: I lead the initial planning phase by conducting research, analyzing competitors and user pain points. Together, we defined the product goals, objectives, and success metrics.
User Stories and Acceptance Criteria: I worked closely with the team to define user stories that capture user needs and expectations. I analyzed data and metrics to evaluate the product's performance, identified areas for improvement, and made data-driven decisions.
Prioritization and Roadmap: I created a product roadmap that outlined the planned features and their timelines. My goal was to ensure that the team focused on delivering the most valuable features and reached the project milestones.
Metrics and Analytics: Using frameworks like HEART, I defined and tracked success metrics, including sign-ups, task success rate, user engagement, retention rate, and user satisfaction scores.
Quality Assurance and Testing: I worked closely with the testing team to ensure the product met quality standards. I defined test cases, reviewed results, and provided feedback for bug fixes and improvements.
Launch and Post-launch Activities: I reviewed design assets, conducted final testing, and coordinated marketing efforts. After the launch, I gathered user feedback, monitored the product's performance, and planned for future updates and enhancements.
Creating a plan is a crucial starting point, but it's important to be flexible as circumstances evolve. The journey so far has been filled with challenges, which have made it even more valuable and significant. I have learned that these moments put your skills and experience to the test, providing opportunities for growth and improvement. Working alongside others to develop this MVP has been an incredible and humbling experience.
This project has not only allowed me to expand my skills as a product manager but also provided the opportunity to venture into a completely different industry. It's been gratifying to incorporate my artistic hobbies and passion for organizing and leading into a tangible product. My experience I have gained from this project has given me even more motivation to continue to pursue my personal and professional growth in product management. By incorporating these lessons into future endeavors, I can enhance project outcomes and deliver even more successful products.
